A cuttlefish viewing platform/shelter is complete and a new public amenities facility is underway, as part of the jointly funded Whyalla Northern Coastline Plan to showcase the Region’s nature tourism by the Eyre Peninsula Natural Resources Management Board and the City of Whyalla.
Caltrop is a prickly problem

The weed caltrop has been popping up in Whyalla and surrounding districts following recent rains. The plant grows flat along the ground, stemming from a central tap root to about 1m long. It has green-grey, fern-like likes, and yellow flowers with five petals. The flowers turn into woody burrs with sharp, rigid spines that split into five wedge-shaped segments when ripe.

Slow start to malleefowl breeding season

A dedicated team of volunteers and Natural Resources staff have found that malleefowl nesting activity on Eyre Peninsula has reduced from ten known active malleefowl mounds last year to only six this season.
Ladies love it on the land

Twelve local women have completed their final session in a series of Wirrulla/Streaky Bay group Ladies on the Land cereal production workshops, funded through the Australian Government National Landcare Program, Rabobank and hosted by Natural Resources Eyre Peninsula. A pre-harvest catch up enabled participants to discuss seasonal conditions and farm happenings and learn about the final link in the cereal production chain.
